Wherever you live - dorm room, apartment complex, duplex - think what you would do if a fire were to start. What if the fire blocked the door from your room into the hallway? What if your windows are painted shut? Consider every eventuality and how you might overcome it. To make your strategy session more thorough, create a floor plan of your building, and then mark all possible exits, making sure to note stairways, possible window exits, outside fire escapes, and fire alarms and extinguishers.
